#GoodEggs Contest and DYK!

I love a good, fresh egg. In all honesty, I could probably eat eggs every day, and sometimes do. We're known to hard boil half a dozen eggs every week to add them to lunches, or use as snacks through the week. My ideal lunch on the weekend is two eggs, sunnyside up, with fresh bread and a glass of orange juice.

Believe it or not, when I was in highschool, I actually did a speech en francais about eggs!

Lucky for us, Isabelle loves eggs too. She knows how to "dip, dip, dip" into the yoke and can easily eat an entire egg.

Over the years, there have been many misconceptions about eggs, and how often you should eat them, but in fact, eggs have 14 key nutrients, like Vitamins A, D, E, B12, iron AND folate. The yolks provide a natural source of Vitamin D (which we all need in Toronto winters), and they are one of nature's most wonderfully created gifts.

As kids, we all learn about how hens lay their eggs, and if you were like me, you got to see the baby chicks at the Canadian National Exhibition every year. But how many people consider the egg farmers when they're buying an egg?

The Burns family are 7th generation egg farmers from PEI. Wendy is also a supporter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure, which has a special place in my heart. The Egg Farmers of Canada are sponsors for the Run, too. Watch the little video below on Wendy and her family:

Maybe one day, I'll get the chance to visit a real egg farm and see how families like the Burns live and produce eggs every single day.

Egg Farmers of Canada are giving Simply Suppa readers the chance to win a #GoodEggs prizepack worth $100. To enter the contest, fill out the rafflecopter below, and don't forget to support local farmers and add eggs to your diet!

  1. I don't like eggs. in fact the only time I've eaten them in my life other then cooked into baked goods, has been while pregnant, because normally the smell makes me sick. for some reason when everything else in the house makes me run for the toilet. I smell my husband cooking eggs and want them. my husband loves eggs. weekends he likes fried eggs or scrambled. once in a while i'll boil them and make egg salad for him.
