Retro Hasbro Toys this Holiday Season

You know you've entered the next stage in your life when toys you played with as a kid have made a comeback. Of course, some never went out of style, but it seems to me that a lot of retro toys (aka toys circa 1970-1980) are back in style.

Our friends at Hasbro are great at providing kids (and adults) with toys from yesteryear -- they've been improved and enhanced, but still bring back those feelings from way back when. Hopefully, if you're buying these for your kids, they, too, will have years of memories with them.

The Easy-Bake Oven:
Ok, so the Easy-Bake Oven was around way before I was a kid. In fact, 2013 marks the oven's 50th Birthday! The classic oven was born in 1963 and today, still remains a top-selling toy. Bake cookies, cakes, chocolate treats. It's easy to use and a great gift for the older kids on your list. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, the new Easy-Bake is available in a sleek, black and silver model. You can also opt for the Ultimate Oven edition, which includes all the baking accessories you need to bake 12 cookies. A perfect starter kit. Both models retail for $54.99 in Canada.

My Little Pony Princess Twilight Sparkle:
Imagine my glee last year when I turned on the TV and saw an animated My Little Pony episode. I LOVED My Little Pony as a kid and collected as many as I could. My favourite was Rainbow Sparkle - she had a best, shiniest hair. Well, Princess Twilight Sparkle is definitely a step up from the figurines I had. She sings and lights up when you press her wings or her star on her back. She has a beautiful long mane and tail and comes with accessories to dress her up. Isabelle loved her as soon as we brought her out of the box - she's a beauty! Hasbro also sells a variety of My Little Pony accessories and models. $59.99 CAD.

Jenga Boom:
You take a block from the bottom and you put it on top; you take a block from the middle and you put it on top. Who doesn't remember the Jenga commercial?! That jingle was so catchy and got stuck in your head for days and days. The new Jenga Boom adds another element of suspense with the block standing on a ticking time-bomb platform! So now in addition to being clever and light with your fingers, you also need to be quick or BOOM! $19.99 CAD.

And these retro toys are just the tip of the iceberg. Littlest Pet Shop, Care Bears, Star Wars, Marvel Comics -- this Christmas, why not take the time to introduce your kids to the toys you grew up with and share some old -- and new -- holiday memories together.
