Last Minute Father's Day Gifts #FLASHCONTEST #FathersDayGifts

Father's Day is tomorrow, and if you're still trying to find a last minute gift for dad or hubby, you're likely not alone.

As I mentioned before, my dad isn't one for extravagant gifts. He'd rather spend the afternoon with his family and have "a beautiful thing" as he calls it (A burger from Harvey's). My husband is somewhat similar -- he doesn't buy much for himself throughout the year, except when he desperately needs it.

Guys generally don't go ga-ga for all the fluff and frills, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve it.

I've put together a list of some great last-minute gifts for dad that have scored points in this household. (Even if not initially!)

A Consumable:
Consumables are easy, and can be a real treat. If dad appreciates a fine liquor, maybe go for something he's never had before, or perhaps a posh brand. Even if he's a beer drinker, perhaps put together a pail of local craft beefs. Champagne, wines, scotch, whiskey -- there are literally thousands of options. If he's not a drinker, go for something food-related: a aged parmesan, perhaps, or an interesting hot sauce. www.lcbo.com

Practicality for Pops:
Most dads I know are super practical. How about getting them something you know they'll need, want and use? The Proraso Shaving Collection is an Italian line with a 60 year history. You can go for a foam cream, a soap, or a tube cream. The Red Collection (pictured above) is great for coarse hair, has no animal ingredients and has an elegant scent.

Men Need Moisture, Too!:
I can't tell you how many times I've told my dad and hubby the importance of moisturizing. Most of the time, my harping goes unheard. That is, until I tried Kiehl's Facial Fuel line, designed specifically for men. The moisturizer is tingling and leaves skin feeling soft and fresh, and, of course, not too girly.

Mad Men Style:
Bow-ties aren't just for weddings anymore. Why not style your dad in a beautiful tie or dress shirt from the Horst Collection? Superb tailoring, interesting patterns and fabrics and impeccable style. Pair it off with a pocket square or tie clip, and you've taken a classic dad gift, and given it a twist.

Socks n' Underwear:
It may be a stereotypical "guy" gift, but that doesn't mean it needs to be boring. For the dad that likes or wants socks and underwear, why not get him ones that pop? I often surprise my hubby with fun socks or boxers with lots of colour and pattern. Or, (just like the consumable above) go for something a little bit finer in quality. You can both have a little laugh, and at least you know it'll be something he'll use!
