A Personalized Gift this Holiday #shoplocal #holidaygiftguide

I love a personalized gift. Even more than that, I love a personalized gift that comes from a local business and/or retailer. In fact, I can proudly say that I have been supporting a few local businesses that specialize in personalized items for years now. It's not a secret -- I share my admiration of companies like Baby Magoo and Little Monkey Designs quite openly. Every item I purchase from these local entrepreneurs is made by hand and with love -- the quality is unlike anything you can find in a store and I receive compliments on these gifts time and again.

Well, here's another business that you're likely to find me shopping in -- Importer's Gifts in Woodbridge. Importer's Gifts is a family-owned and operated business that specializes in bomboniere and party favours, but also unique Italian trinkets and items. They've been around since 1990 -- which is your first indication that they know what they're doing. I've been shopping there for years, whether it's for a party favour or a replica Italia jersey, great sparkly slippers or a gift for my nonna; there are literally thousands of items in the store.

Christine and Anthony treat every person that walks into the store so kindly. They are fair and respectful, super helpful and provide amazing customer service. This is one of the main reasons I keep going back. They make you feel really good. And I, in turn, like supporting them.

But they also have really nice stuff. Like their personalized items. Here's a selection of engraved items I personally own:

On the left, a customized bottle. A water bottle makes an excellent, inexpensive gift. Everyone needs one, so why not customize a special one? The mugs are available in various colours, as well. In the top right you'll notice a hammer I got Donny for Father's Day this year. On one side it says "Daddy, We love building memories with you," and on the reverse, the date. And my newest favourite personalized item, a wooden board -- this one paying homage to both our family names.

The wooden boards come in all shapes, sizes and prices, and are made of either bamboo, maple, acacia, walnut or cherry wood. Engraving is an add-on cost, but it's so worth it, don't you think? This statement piece is the ultimate housewarming or hostess gift. It's an amazing tribute to a favourite teacher or best friend or the foodie in your life. It's a gift that's both useful and sentimental, practical and posh -- all at once.

The boards start at $12, and engraving is available for an additional $10+. The design and phrasing is up to you -- but Anthony is very patient and will not only send you a proof of your board, but he'll work with you until it's just right. I've likely tested his patience more than once through this process and he is amazing to work with. I am so pleased with the final product and love showing off this stunning board that will be a signature item in my kitchen for years to come.

Got a business? Why not engrave the company logo? How about a monogram board, or one branded with your favourite sports team. These wooden boards are so versatile and can make a great gift for just about anyone. If you're reading this and would like to order -- don't delay. All engraved items must be received by December 18 in order to guarantee completion before the holidays.

But, thanks to the generosity of Importer's Gifts, you can WIN your very own wooden board, plus engraving right here on Simply Suppa. This prize has a value of $50. To enter, please complete the contest entry form below.

Good luck!
