Lest We Forget

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.
- John McCrae
Today we remember those who have fought, those who have given their lives, those who continue to fight. We honour and we pay tribute to the men and women who courageously give themselves in various parts of the world.

I would be lying if I said I support war, but I do support our troops - my heart goes to the families who suffer and who worry. A colleague of mine currently has a son fighting in Afghanistan, and I can't imagine what she thinks -and goes through - every day.

Take a moment today to recognize the 700,000 veterans in Canada, and all those who are currently serving. Please bring our soldiers home safely.
