Easy Holiday Craft #craft #holiday

Being home with a toddler is a lot of fun, and a lot of work! I try and fill our days with fun activities, crafts and games that we both enjoy. I've ALWAYS loved arts and crafts and it comes as no surprise that Isabelle does too.

We try and paint or colour or glue a couple times a week. It's a great way to let our creative sides out and make a little mess!

Here's a simple holiday craft we made the other day. It's pretty quick (all toddler activities need to be!), and super affordable. It's our Christmas Tree on canvas.

You'll Need:

  • Canvas (I buy these at the dollar store in a bunch of different sizes and always have them at home for our painting days)
  • Various colours of paint (again, dollar store comes in handy here, or you can go to a craft store)
  • Construction paper
  • Sponges, Paint Brushes & Scissors
  • Glue Stick

Start by painting your child's hands with green paint and allowing them to shape the Christmas tree on the canvas. Set canvas aside to dry.

On red construction paper, paint on red glitter paint. This is a great time for your child to have fun with the paint brush! Do the same on yellow construction paper -- this time, with silver or gold paint.

Allow both papers to dry completely.

Cut out a star, and an assortment of circles (Christmas balls) to add to the tree. Glue onto the canvas, glitter side up.

The plan for our Xmas tree was to have red and silver balls, but when it came time to glueing, Isabelle told me the silver balls were snowballs, and they had to go around the tree. And so they did. There are no rules when it comes to art!

Don't forget to date your masterpiece and place on the mantle or anywhere else in your home.

What are your holiday-inspired crafts?
