How to Spend the Last Few Days of 2019 with Your Kids

School's out for another week in Ontario -- and I've put together a list of some of our favourite experiences that you can still take advantage of in the next week or so.

Mindful of costs, I've included experiences of various price points.

Glow Toronto -- Open until January 4, Glow Toronto is fun for the entire family. Bring your camera and dress lightly -- it's entirely indoors. Good for little kids, strollers and wheelchairs accessible. I loved the icicle alley and the kids enjoyed hopping on the light dots. There are various food options on-site.
Dave & Busters: We always have a blast at D&B, playing old school arcade and video games. They always have different promos available and deals if you eat on-site too (Fried Pickles is one of our faves). Visit their website for more details.

Canada's Wonderland: There are only a couple days left to check out the first-ever WinterFest at Canada's Wonderland and if you haven't been, I highly recommend. Walk around, enjoy hot chocolate and some snacks, see a show, take photos with the lights. It's very well done.

Bake a Cake: I know a lot of people did holiday baking, but why not get the kids involved in some New Year baking? Cookies, cakes, muffins. This is also a good time to start meal prepping for the new year and our kids will be helping for sure.

Stay Indoors and Play: We've actually enjoyed a few lazy PJ days (hence my absence here), and it's so worth it. Play with new toys, watch movies, hang out, eat leftovers or take out.

Lock in Your Love: Why not end the year with a gesture of kindness? The Vaughan Mills Love Lock Wall is still open and accepting donations. 100% of your donation goes to Sick Kids Toronto. Your kids can dedicate their lock to someone special or leave a note to someone who's sick in the hospital.

Go for Brunch: This is a great week to head to the city and go for brunch (traffic is light). Get dressed up and have a fancy little lunch.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman? Only if there's snow -- which, we don't have currently!

Glama Gal Kids Spa: My girls absolutely love going to Glama Gals and ask to go often. (In fact, we've been taking Isabelle since she was 2!) In addition to nails and hair, kids make slime, custom lotions and potions -- it's fun for boys and girls from pre-school to pre-teen. They're also having a New Years Eve Mini Masquerade Ball -- not sure if there's still availability but visit their website and call individual locations for more info,.

Catch a Game/Show: If you can grab tickets to a pro sports game, great! If not, don't discount the minors -- kids still enjoy the experience of the Toronto Marlies, the Barrie Colts, the Peterborough Petes, the Oshawa Gens -- and the ticket prices are much more affordable. Same goes for the theatre -- choose a great musical or try local theatre for an arts experience!

Also on our list:

  • Medieval Times Toronto
  • Seuss Experience (closed until January)
  • Tunnel of Glam
  • Skating
  • Dinosaurs @ the ROM
