Giving Tuesday @ Vaughan Mills

December 1st traditionally marks the start of the holiday season (even though I feel like many have started much earlier this year!). This year, December 1st also marks Giving Tuesday, the day after Cyber Monday, and a reminder that there are many people who need extra love and help this time of year.

I think it's very important to talk to your kids from when they're young about the importance of giving back, not just during the holiday season, but year-round. We are very fortunate to be healthy, have a roof and warm clothes; many people are not. More, many children are sick, in hospital, without the comfort of their home, family and friends.

There are many ways to give back generously and joyously, and Vaughan Mills Mall has come up with a spectacular idea that adds an element of fun for your kids (and makes a great gift, too).

Starting on Giving Tuesday, purchase a Gingerbread House Kit for $15 at The Holiday Collective (Entry 5), and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to SickKids Foundation. The kits will be available from 10 am to 9 pm starting tomorrow. Don't want to go inside? You can also purchase curbside by DMing the Vaughan Mills Instagram account.

If you do go inside the mall, make sure you stop by the life-size replica of The Hospital for Sick Children Gingerbread Village, created by The Rolling Pin & Si & Oui Designs. The first 100 kits sold will receive a packaged piece of the Sick Kids Gingerbread Village to try out.

And let me tell you: from a mom's perspective, this is the best Gingerbread House Kit I've ever tried with the kids!

Looking for another way to give back? Saturday, December 5 is #NationalChristmasTreeDay. Purchase a tree (Entry 4, near LEGOLAND) between 8 am and 10 am and your entire purchase will be donated to the SickKids Foundation.

Thank you for giving back this Giving Tuesday.
