This one's for the girls. The smart, curious girls. The adventurous girls who want more than what has been planned for them. The dreamers. The keeners. The fighters.
When I sat down to write about this month's Hasbro Disney Princess -- Princess Belle -- I couldn't happen to feel sad. Sad for little girls. In what was a shocking, historical US Presidential result, an amazingly intelligent, well-spoken and kind Senator Hillary Clinton lost the Presidency. I'm positive I'm not the only one who hoped to see the first female elected as President of the United States.
But this post isn't about politics or Donald Trump. It's about girls.
This morning in her "concession" speech, Hillary Clinton addressed young girls:
“To all the little girls watching ... never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world."
And so with this, I'm left with some optimism and hope for my daughters and the other young girls and women in the world. I refuse to believe I'm raising daughters in a backward-thinking society; in fact, I'm raising girls in a world where a woman CAN run for President (or other world leader). Together with my husband and family (it takes a village), we will raise daughters who are intelligent, critical thinkers, believers, fighters. As Senator Clinton urged, we will not stop believing that fighting for what's right is worth it.
And so, with that, I introduce this month's Hasbro Disney Princess -- Princess Belle. Belle is a kind soul, a supportive daughter, a bookworm. She's adventurous and courageous and brave. As as she so famously sings in the opening scene, "There must be more than this provincial life!"
The Hasbro Disney collection features Belle in her finest of forms, including fashion doll Belle, Belle with hair accessories (left) and Belle's Enchanted Dining Room with miniature Belle character and friends (like Chip and Lumiere)!
I had fun playing with Belle before the girls got to her and she has beautiful long locks, a few accessories and even a hair clip for simultaneous play.
