Introducing Followspot by Simply Suppa & PInheads

Introducing followspot -- a new, regular feature available here at Simply Suppa, by yours truly.

Just as a followspot in theatre spotlights a particular object or person, followspot by Simply Suppa will highlight and focus on a local, GTA-based business, product or person that deserves recognition.  And hey, if you want to give them some love on social media by following and liking, that helps, too.

Today's followspot is on PINheads, a Kleinburg-based business that makes handcrafted lapel pins out of recycled beer bottle caps. 28-year-old owner and founder Chris started the business over a year ago as a way to "create something that people could enjoy with something that is simply thrown away."

Chris sent me (Donny) a couple earlier this season and every single time he wears them, people stop and ask him about his pin. They are excellent conversation pieces. Watching everyone learn about how they're made, and chuckle at the beer bottle cap shape is also really cool.

Style-wise, because the rosettes are created from beer bottlecaps, the flower is firm and doesn't lose shape; it's also textured and eye-catching. The pin is long with a fastener at the tail. Easy to use, wear, and they don't fall or dip. PINheads come in all different colours and patterns and can be worn by men and women. You can even get your company logo printed onto a pin!

New for Remembrance Day, PINheads has released a special Poppy Pin with a portion of the sales being donated to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. PINheads range in price from $15-20 and are available on etsy.

I think PINheads make a unique gift, with a cool story attached.
