Dad-Approved Gifts for the Dads On Your List

Gifts for Dad that are Dad-Approved

Father's Day is this weekend, and I don't know about your dad, but most dads I know (including my father, FIL and husband) are quite happy with spending a few hours with the kids, having a cold beer, a great burger and maybe even a nap.

When it comes to buying gifts for the dads, I usually find it challenging. But I've put together a list of some great gifts for dad that are affordable and were well received.

This is not a sponsored post, but there are some affiliate links below. In no particular order:

  • Socks and Underwear: What says Father's Day like socks and underwear? Truth is: I'm not sure what my husband would be wearing if I didn't buy him new essentials. When we discovered SAXX, we were initially turned off by the price, but according to the young dads I've polled, they are unlike other underwear. They have a little pouch to hold his....saxx....so everything is in place and dry and all that good stuff.
  • My husband has a good collection of funky socks -- all different brands and styles. You can pick these up at any department store, men's clothing store. At Christmas, they make great stocking stuffers, and they're always a conversation starter. These popsicle ones are from YoSox
  • "Another tie!?" Yes, another tie. Only, this time, maybe amp up the tie-style by shifting away from sky blue stripes to a modern print or colour. We love the Original Penguin line of skinny ties, and this floral tie has been a fave for the last couple of years.
  • Dad Jewels: Maybe dad doesn't wear a lot of jewellery, mine doesn't. But a watch is always useful, whether it's a fitness tracker like a FitBit or an iWatch (we gave FitBits a few years ago), or a sleek and stylish watch for going out, like this beautiful Daniel Wellington that Donny received. My sister purchased it at a local jeweller (Glitz Jewellery), but I'm sure you can find similar if you're not local.
  • Crystals: I know you're thinking, "now she's lost it." Alright, alright, but stay with me here. I purchased Donny a bronzite bracelet a few years ago from my friend Rosie at Luromondo and last year, he decided to add to his own collection. Think about what dad needs; (maybe some peace and tranquillity, maybe relaxation, maybe confidence or strength) a healing crystal may help)
  • Personalized Items: always a hit for any holiday, a personalized item is special. I purchased this hammer from another local retailer a couple years ago (Importer's Gifts) and Donny hangs it outside of his workroom.
  • Handmade Art: I'm a BIG believer in handmade art for dads and grandparents, as gifts from the kids. This handmade "Daddy's Princesses" piece is easy to do in minutes. Makes a great last-minute idea. If you have boys and girls, you can do "Daddy's Superheroes" and instead of tutus, you make little capes to glue to the canvas. Here are some other DIY gifts for dad: Stepping Stones, and DIY Beer Caddy
  • Lastly, books are always a great idea. Think about what dad likes: autobiographies, comedy, sports, home improvement and put together a gift of books. Here are a couple I scooped from our library: Holmes Inspection & Sh*t My Dad Says
With a few days left before Father's Day, there's a lot of time to get dad a gift he may not need, but he will certainly appreciate.
